We are deeply sad to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to end the Good Space project on 31 May 2020. This is a direct impact of the coronavirus global pandemic on our finances. The income from our meeting and event spaces made up around 60% of our total income, and that income stopped overnight in mid-March after social distancing was announced and we were required by the government to close our space.
Unfortunately, because of continuing social distancing rules, there is no prospect of re-opening Good Space’s meeting and event spaces and generating any income in the foreseeable future. The impact on our finances means, unfortunately, we do not have any other option but to close Good Space. We are also thinking about what it means for the future of Northern Creative Solutions, the charity that runs the Good Space project.
We are very pleased that our members can stay in their offices in Commercial Union House and will be supported by Orbis from 1st June 2020. We hope this will allow the spirit of Good Space to continue in some way.
One of the hardest things about deciding to close the Good Space project is what it means for our staff, the Good Space hosts. Unfortunately, we have needed to make the Good Space host roles redundant and their roles will end on 31 May.
Stacey will be continuing in her role for now. She’ll be working with our members so they’re all ready for the changes to Good Space and working with the trustee team on the future of Northern Creative Solutions.
We are so very disappointed to share this news but are proud of everything achieved at Good Space with the support of our staff, volunteers, members, partners, friends and visitors.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Stacey, Darryl, David, Paula and Stephanie
